I am writing this from Henderson, my sister is here, and we are at my daughters house. This is for a VISIT only.  If i go into any kind of care home>> i loose all of my check and will not be able to keep up the bills or pay my truck off... I am too young /63 to allow myself to be put into a ware house yet. When i am so unable to do things for myself then that is another story. For now i need to get off the REZ, to have services and such for my needs medically and etc.

If i can get the attourney paid his $900 i can get the land thru probate, and then my grand daughter will have a home of her own. I do not choose to life there unless i have no choice.

in response to Starshine...   Actually that seems to be the problem.  The article was about some politician explaining what the homesteading act was and - to me - he just wasn't 100% clear.  As a homeowner I want to be careful about what I will and will not sign as far as my home goes.  I want to know 100% sure about what this homesteading thing is all about BEFORE I sign anything having to do with my home!

It the homestead act rings a bell with me too. I know out in the desert if at one time you lived in one of the empty shacks for so long then it was yours but you had to pay so much for it. My mom and dad would know but they aren't around to ask. I don't think that is the case these days as that was back later 60's or early 70's and I couldn't find anything to give her better information so I told her to see hanks55.

I guess you could fill it out the form and there must be a address or phone number you could write and get more information?? Good luck..

Actually that "homestead" thing does ring a bell with me.  I was always getting something in the mail about it but didn't really understand it until I read an article in the paper about it.

Basically its supposed to help homeowners with their property tax payments.  But it seems to be a little bit more complicated than that.  Although the article doesn't spell out 100% clearly about what this homestead act thing is - they encourage homeowners to fill it out and send it in.

Personally I haven't done it yet because I want to know more about it first!

I can find homestead act but I am not coming up with something that would apply to you and which state NV or AZ or Utah. I think you have to be a resident of one of those states for a while to get anything

here is hanks55 link

Best to email him ASAP as he is disabled and sends me things.

Wish I could find something

Pat have you found anything on something new called a "homestead act". it is something that will relocate the handicapped and low vision folks to a home that is disability friendly and near medical care as well.. Information would be great.
